2. ‘In the kitchen’ – didactic activity – teacher asks children to focus. Teacher spells the words: far-mer, cook, bak-er, pas-try cook, and the children’s task is to solve what the words are. Then, teacher disposes the photos of people performing these jobs and children name the jobs, and describe what they do (a farmer – takes care of a field and plants, products that are necessary to eat; a baker – makes bread, buns, etc.; a pastry cook – makes cakes and sweets; a cook – cooks and creates dishes). Teacher asks how these jobs are related and explains that all these jobs are involved in the process of preparing food – a farmer supplies a cook, a baker, and a pastry cook with products that they use in their work.
3. ‘Kitchen race’ – movement activity – teacher divides children into 4 groups. Each group gathers in a marked place and is named by one of the jobs: cooks, bakers, pastry cook, and farmers. Then, they sit in a circle but not next to people from their groups. When teacher says the name of one of the jobs, e.g. cooks, children from the cooks’ group change their places. When teacher says ‘Kitchen race’, all the children change their places. The activity lasts as long as all the names of the jobs are mentioned at least once.
4. ‘Match’ – didactic activity – teacher disposes the photos of a farmer, a cook, a baker, and a pastry cook and reversed photos of a farmer’s harvest, cook’s dishes, baker’s baked goods, and pastry cook goods. One by one, children reverse the photos and match them to the correct person. Then, they count how many elements are in each group and tell which has the most elements, which one has the least, and what is the difference between them.
5. ‘The chef’ – movement activity – teacher plays ‘The chef’ video or ‘Hungarian dance’ song and shows and describes the correct movements:
- Stir the pot with your right hand
- Stir the pot with your left hand
- Add the spices

6. ‘Jobs’ – making worksheet – teacher shows children a worksheet and describes their tasks (match a person with a result of his/her work). Then, teacher asks preschoolers to go to the tables and divides them into worksheets. During their work, teacher walks between tables, helps children if they need it and checks whether their tasks are done correctly.
7. ‘Goodies’ – movement activity – children walk around the classroom to ‘When I grow up’ song following teacher’s instructions, e.g. jumping, marching, doing carioca drills, crawling, tiptoeing. When they hear a sound, e.g. a whistle, they stop. Then, teacher says the name of any fruit or vegetable, e.g. an apple, a lemon, an onion, a tomato, a kiwi, a garlic, a potato, and the children’s task is to show if they like them or not using their facial expressions. Teacher says again the manner of walking. The activity is repeated 7-8 times.
8. ‘Healthy cakes’ – culinary activity – teacher asks children if they know how to make healthy cookies and people perfoming which of the mentioned jobs make them (pastry cook, but a farmer provides oats that create oats flakes that they are going to use). Children wash their hands and sit at the tables in pairs arranged by their teacher. On each table, there is a bowl, a fork, a banana, a hand of raisins, and a glass of oat flakes. The children’s task is to mash a banana with a fork, add the rest of the ingredients and knead them using a hand. Teacher monitors their work and helps. When the pastry is ready, teacher comes with the prepared baking tray with parchment paper to each table and children form and put the cookies on it. Teacher takes the tray to the kitchen. The cookies should be baked for 15-20 minutes at 180 Celsius degrees/356 degrees Fahrenheit. When they are ready, children can try them e.g. after lunch/for snacks.
9. ‘Pat – a – cake, pat – a – cake baker’s man’ – movement activity – teacher sings/plays ‘Pat – a – cake, pat – a – cake baker’s man’ song and claps. Children walk around a circle, clap and try to sing.
Pat – a – cake, pat – a – cake baker’s man
Pat-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Pat it and prick it and mark it with B,
Put it in the oven for Baby and me,
For baby and me, for Baby and me,
Put it in the oven for Baby and me!
The activity is repeated 2-3 times – every time change the direction of your march.
